How To Style Straight Leg Jeans

My wardrobe is full of straight leg jeans at the moment. I spoke a little bit about it in my ‘jeans and a nice top‘ post – which ironically, is yet again what I’m wearing here – but I thought it was deserving of a whole post itself. It’s one of those items where I can’t quite pinpoint what on earth I was wearing before pre-straight leg jeans, which is a clear indicator of a staple piece that will sit in your wardrobe for years to come. Other items that have had this same effect include my Stan Smiths and a good, oversized blazer.

There was a time in my teens when I hated wearing trousers or jeans, I lived for my dresses and skirts that were so comfortable and easy. So when I started wearing jeans it was all about the skinny leg. But now, the majority of jeans in my wardrobe are a straight leg with only one skinny pair! For me, it all started when raw hems starting gaining popularity (also, another detail that all my straight leg jeans have – who doesn’t wear raw hem jeans now!?) and undoubtedly I was influenced by Aimee Song who is the queen of that effortless, L.A. ‘jeans and a nice top’ look that I endeavor to emulate. Now, Topshop has an amazing selection of straight leg styles – of which I currently own two washes – and they are my ultimate, go-to jean.

I’d love to know, are you a fan of straight leg jeans? Can you ever see yourself wearing another style ever again? Leave me a comment down below, I’d love to know!
