In the past year, my interest in skincare has grown massively since I’ve become a lot more intrigued by the world of skincare beyond my basic cleanse and moisturize routine. I’ve been trying out a few more products as of late from brands that really know their stuff when it comes to skincare, such as Eve Lom and Dermalogica (a long time favorite of my mums). They may be higher price points, but when it comes to paying that bit extra for the ingredients that you are putting into your skin, it’s all worth it and you can definitely see the results.
When I was younger, all I cared about spending my extra money on was makeup. Thankfully, I’m grateful to never have had acne-prone skin or any major issues, so my skin texture has always been fairly smooth and as I’ve come out of my teens, I only tend to get the odd breakout every now and again. As I’ve gotten older (albeit still young), I’ve realized the importance of taking care of your skin. Especially when it comes to makeup as your skin is the base that your makeup sits on top of it. No matter how much glow primer or highlighter I use, the only way to really get that inner, dewy glow is to directly target the place where it comes from!
I appreciate that a lot of other factors go into skincare as well, even just wearing SPF daily can really help reduce wrinkles and any other effects of aging. On top of that, your diet, sleep and much water you drink also have a massive contribution to your overall skin complexion.
In this post, I just wanted to highlight a few of the new products that have made their way onto my bathroom cabinet so you can get a taste of what products I’ve been trying and using recently.
Eve Lom: I recently received the Eve Lom x LookFantastic (which I believe is unfortunately sold out, but there are other gift sets to buy) beauty box which is full of amazing, cult Eve Lom Products. I’m most excited about trying the cleanser as I’ve heard rave reviews about this product for years, but also the brightening cream seems perfect for my goal of a glowing complexion. Being Eve Lom, all the products smell like I’ve just walked into a spa and the cream textures are perfect for my sensitive skin. Helen from Style Structure has already said the cleanser made a massive difference so I can’t wait to see the results!
Caudalie: I usually step away from foaming cleansers as I find them too stripping and harsh on the skin. It wasn’t until I heard a fellow blogger talk about how pleasantly surprised she was with how gentle and moisturizing this Caudalie cleanser was that I decided to bring it out of hiding and give it a go. I can confirm that this product is actually such a treat to use and leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft. I also have been enjoying using their 3-in-1 moisturizer every morning and I can’t wait to try some more bits from Caudalie!
Dermalogica: I recently went to a Dermalogica event to celebrate the launch of their Rapid Reveal Peel. Although I think I’m slightly under the targeted age range for this product, I loved how my skin felt after they use the product on me. I could genuinely see a visible difference in my skin texture after using which was incredible as I’ve never had a peel before, so I can’t wait to add this into my weekly routine.
Pixi: I’m sure we have all heard about the Pixi Glow Tonic, so when I was looking to add a tonic into my routine, this was at the top of my list. I did a post earlier in the year on the rising trend of Rose Skincare Products and featured their rose tonic, which did wonders for calming the redness on my cheeks. But I’m really hoping this product will really give me that GLOW im looking for, so I’ll use this every other day to begin with and see how my skin reacts. There’s a great post on Vogue you should read to see why this product has made such an impression in the beauty market and how best to use.
Drugstore: To look at combating the congestion in my T-Zone area, I picked up the L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Wash to use after I cleanse to really target those areas that I want to draw impurities out of. I’ve also started to add an oldie but a goodie, the St Ives Apricot Scrub that I’ll start using 3 times a week to scrub away any dead skin cells and surface dirt to really give my skin a good polish.
I’d love to know, have you tried any of these products before? And what products are you currently using – new or old (not as in the products old ofc, gotta check those use by dates) – leave me a comment down below!
