I’ve been loving seeing all the Fall items hit the shops recently. Like most other people, Autumn has to be one of my favourite seasons for fashion as you can get so creative with the styling of items, the layering of pieces and bigger statements. Watching all the stores drop their Autumn collections has made me aware of a few of the key few trends that we should be expecting to see more of in the coming months.
Two of the biggest trends (par velvet which can I just say, I’m all over once again) are Distressed Denim and Knot Detailing which I just so happen to wearing both in this outfit post… (what a coincidence eh). So let’s dive in.

1. the knot
As I was writing this, images of the J W Anderson SS16 collection instantly popped up in my mind. When I was writing the Catwalk Review for the show, I noticed the small tie detailing around the ankles and wrists, with the fabric billowing out above as if Anderson had been knotting up an air tight bag that was about to pop. It was definitely one of the most memorable details from the show, and it looks like it’s certainly caught on with the rest of the fashion crowd. They were noticeable in one of my favourite NY brands, Beaufille’s AW16 collection which I did a quick round up of on the blog here and now you can find them on almost every top and dress!
I’ve received a lot of compliments when wearing this top, and I’m not surprised so many people want to know where it’s from. When the lovely girls at Romwe asked if I’d like to select a few pieces, this one went straight into the basket.
And do I even need to mention that off-the-shoulder is here to stay for yet another season? I didn’t think so…

2. distressed denim
Raw edges, distressed detailing and DIY aesthetic in denim has undoubtedly made a resurgence due to what I’m calling, the Vetements effect. You’ve seen it countless times already, it’s the perfect mix of chic and Parisenne ‘cool girl’ nonchalance that makes it so easy and stylish to wear.
Whether you buy it already distressed or decide to snip at your own hems with a pair of scissors, it might just be about time that you revamped your denim wardrobe.
