Items on my Autumn Wishlist

I’ve been loving seeing the switch on my social feeds to an Autumnal palette of warm browns, rust oranges and burgundy reds. It’s been this way for some time now, but I definitely feel that I pick up the Autumn trends from Instagram and my social feeds far more than I do from flicking through a magazine or website. As we’ve (almost) finished Fashion Month, I’ve been loving looking at street style images to see what the fashion pack are wearing and getting some new inspiration on how to style pieces that I already have in my wardrobe. Make sure to check out my New York and London Fashion Week posts to see some of my favorite street style trends.

A massive trend this season has been the jumpsuit. In particular, the utilitarian boiler suit has made a massive resurgence and is definitely at the top of my Autumn wishlist. Warehouse* have a great selection of jumpsuits from wide-leg denim to boilersuit shirt styles, as well as Bardot off-the-shoulder styles for those holiday and work parties.

Boots

Ankle boots are always a staple piece for me when it comes to Autumn. They are such a versatile item that look great paired with jeans as well as dresses. At the moment, I’m loving knee-high boots in white and snakeskin, they look amazing paired with mini long-sleeved dresses. For a pair more trend-led, cowboy boots were made “for walking” and you can find some great styles at shops like & Other Stories that aren’t too in-your-face.

Oversized Blazer

When it comes to Autumn, the blazer is a key item for throwing on top of any look. Make sure to keep it oversized and loose, almost as if you’ve thrown your boyfriend’s blazer over your shoulders on the way home. If you bought into the checked blazer craze last year, then you can bring it out again this season or if you’re in the market for a new addition to the wardrobe, like myself, then a camel colour is on the top of my list. Looks so good paired with another item on my wishlist, slip skirts.

Jumpsuit

The rise of the jumpsuit was somewhat unexpected, but I’m definitely on board with the ease and practicality of this one piece item (that is, aside from when you need the toilet). Make sure to add a belt around the waist with boilersuits to stop it from drowning you and accessorize with some of this season’s flashy jewellery and accessories for some boyish charm.

Prairie Dress

The part bohemian and Victorian dresses are perfect for the cooler weather. They look great paired with cowboy boots or chunky trainers and oversized earrings. High necks, floral patterns and puffed sleeves make up the basis of this trend. Make sure to look at my London Fashion Week post to find some inspiration from the street style pack on how to style.

Slip Skirt

Ever since the Pernille Teisbaek x Malene Birger collection that launched on Net-A-Porter at the beginning of this year, a slip skirt has been on the top of my wishlist. The slip skirt has possibly been the biggest trend throughout 2018, with many thanks to that Realisation Par leopard print number. I love tucking jumpers/knits into them or a band tee and I think this will be an item that I’ll keep in my closet for a long time.

Cropped Cardigan

Again, there’s always that ONE item that everyone wants to get their hands on and when it comes to the cardigan, & Other Stories made the perfect slouchy, cropped oversized cardigan that looks great paired with dresses, skirts and tucked into pants too. Thankfully, there’s an abundance of choice on the market and I can’t wait to wrap up in one in the Winter.

Wide Leg Pants

I’m loving super high waisted, super wide-leg and super slouchy trousers at the moment, worn with equally as baggy shirts and blouses that look super chic. Usually one to avoid in fear of spilling coffee or food down myself, I’m actually really drawn to wide-leg white jeans as well, worn with animal print ankle boots and a deconstructed shirt tucked in.

Trouser Suit

You can’t go wrong with a good trouser suit come Autumn, they look great in a check or striped pattern and you can mix and match each individual piece with others within your wardrobe, so you get more cost per wear! If you really want to embrace the whole 70s vibe then have a look at some Corduroy sets, Zara has a great selection in store at the moment.

I hope I’ve given you some good ideas on what pieces are trending this season! I tried to give some ideas for more investment pieces, like ankle boots or a camel oversized blazer, but also wanted to show you the more trend-led versions in case you’re just looking for pieces to update your wardrobe for the Autumn season, like cowboy boots or a leopard print skirt.

So which pieces do you have on your wishlist? Leave me a comment below with your favourite! And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for more fashion inspiration 🙂
