Heatwave

Woah, who’s being feeling the heatwave we’ve been having in the UK for the past 3 days!? Bit of a silly question really, I’m sure we’ve all been having trouble sleeping the past few nights in this heat. Us Brits eh, we can always find something to moan about… even if it is finally getting some hot weather!

I have to admit that I really don’t cope well in hot weather as although I can tan very easily, I feel like I’m melting faster than a Magnum’s ice cream! So when weather like this comes along, I practically live in maxi dresses. Keeping my arms free and open is most important, and the rest of the dress is light and airy enough for me for move around in.

I’m a sucker for anything that’s backless (I wore this one on holiday), so this dress instantly won me over. When I went to Portugal 3 years ago with my best friend, we were at a local beach bar and noticed that the girl behind the bar was wearing the most beautiful dress. She was obviously sporting an enviable tan, but she just looked so effortless and ‘cool’, that we had to ask where she had bought her dress from. She was most pleased that we’d asked and exclaimed in her sweet broken English ‘I saw it in the shop and said to my boyfriend you must buy me that dress!’.

I searched high and low in the local town of Lagos for this dress but was unable to find it. Until the next year that I went, and stumbled upon it in a small shop in the town center! I literally gasped and clinged onto it with all my might, I was certainly NOT leaving Portugal until this dress was mine.

Unfortunately, as mentioned, this was a few years back so the dress isn’t available anymore (so bummed when I went back into the store this year and couldn’t find anymore), but Purple have a tonne of beautiful dresses and jumpsuits on their website! I always get complimented on this dress when I wear it and so I’m definitely letting you in on a little secret as it seems like a lot of their long dresses quickly sell out on their site already! So please, leave a few spare for me to have if you are going to buy some and tell all your friends about it 😉
