HOW TO KEEP RESOLUTIONS

I cannot hardly believe that we are almost in April already…  mostly because I don’t feel like I’ve had close of a second of a chance to meet the goals i set myself at New Year. So, it seems 3 months into the new year is the perfect chance to reflect on the resolutions i set myself at the beginning of year, and see the ones that have yet to be started.

You see, most things we want to improve about ourselves require us creating new habits and getting rid of old ones, which isn’t easy to begin with. So to come and check in every now with ourselves every now and then, is a good opportunity for us to see how much progress we’ve made, and how much further we have to go.

“strive for progress, not perfection”

The tricky thing is, resolutions are normally things that we want to improve on ourselves. They aren’t necessarily goals with a set end by date that we wish for them to completed by… other than the end of the year. So I think here lies the problem, I’m not committing to my resolutions as they were merely tasks of self-improvement that are continuous, rather than set goals. I cant even remember the last time I checked on my resolutions….

My main resolutions were:

  1. Be more mindful of what I eat for a healthy lifestyle
  2. Start just DOing what I want to do
  3. Stop giving a f*@! about what others think

I saw that Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup in one her recent videos had stuck her 2016 resolutions on the wall on her desk behind her computer, along with a monthly calendar that showed her gym routine day by day. Brilliant! I have since decided to do this for myself and I’m definitely seeing an improvement seeing my goals each and every day.

How are you sticking to your resolutions? Do you have any handy tips to helping maintain them?
