How to master ‘L’art de la Simplicite’ with a Daily Routine

It’s been a little quiet lately over here on Atelier of Style, which has honestly been so unsettling for me! And speaking of trying to get settled, September has definitely been another year of big change. I don’t speak about it much on the blog, but I’ve just started my studies again for my final year of University. I’ve moved house again for the 3rd time, back to being independent again, a long way away from home where I spent a lot of time with my family and boyfriend during the summer. So September was definitely a significant point of change and refresh in my life.

After all the hype around the Marie Kondo’s ‘The Life Changing Art of Tidying Up’, I have been getting more and more interested in minimalism. Especially after my third move, I realised how much stuff I actually had! I think when you have to constantly pack and unpack all your possessions, you truly feel the weight of all the things you own your shoulders.

I’d picked up Dominique Loreau’s book, ‘L’art de la Simplicite’ a while ago, but never fully got round to giving it my whole attention. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down! I read the whole book in one day and got out my favourite highlighter so I could share with you guys what I thought were some of her key teachings.

Rather than give you some of the top quotes from the book, I thought I would compromise a Daily Routine Practice, simply from taking the advice that she gives in the book.

Morning

  • Wake up at dawn
  • Eat a full breakfast in the morning
  • Show gratitude for the day ahead
  • Ritualise your first sip of coffee – after all, happiness comes in small things
  • Body brush before you get in the shower
  • Take a cold shower

Day

  • Eat lighter meals for longer
  • Use Visualisation
  • Include four, one hour workout sessions into your week

Night

  • Review the enjoyable moments of your day
  • List everything that you have accomplished
  • Then conisder.. what might you have done differently?

Is there anything that you guys will be incorporating into your daily routines? Or which ones do you do already? Leave me a comment below!
