WAITING AT THE BUS STOP

The Jumpsuit. The idea is within the name. It’s a suit, but it’s been lead astray from a rigid formality by its playful sister who just wants to have a bit of fun within the formalities of everyday life.

For me, the jumpsuit is slowly becoming the new dress. Especially now that the colder weather has settled in, I need that one easy piece of clothing that will keep my legs warm and still make me look like I’ve made an effort (the brilliant trick of a one piece). In the past I had just associated jumpsuits with practical work wear and something that was a pain to go to the loo in (which still is the case) but now I think the positives outweigh that one negative.

The jumpsuit is so versatile, from the boiler suit style I’m wearing here to a more tailored and fitted silky number. My first jumpsuit, this plain strapless black LBJ that you’ve seen me wear before, makes an appearance weekly and it’s become such a staple and valued piece of mine. I can wear it throughout the day and also easily wear it at night by adding a pair of strappy heels and jewelry.

If you haven’t got a jumpsuit in your wardrobe, I really recommend you try out a few options and see which style and fit works best for you!

Here are a few tips:

1.     Go for a looser fit – for the ultimate chic and effortless style, you cannot go wrong.

2.     Don’t be afraid of a masculine look – often, wearing something masculine can actually highlight your feminine side. Delicate jewelry and having unexpected areas of skin showing, such as your back or décolletage, look incredibly sexy.

3.     Tie the sleeves around your waist and wear your jumpsuit as trousers, add a plain white top for a badass look. (Note to self, must try)

4.     Last but not least – Stan Smiths look awesome and work EVERYTIME. Trust me. Even Raf Simons thought they were so perfect already that the only change needed was adding his name to them. (If Raf approves, it’s already gospel).
