This year, I had the chance to attend my very first Lovebox Festival. If you haven’t heard of Lovebox festival before (not to worry, I hadn’t either) then I’ll give you a brief description… Lovebox is a two day festival held in Victoria Park, London and was founded by DJs Groove Armada in 2002. Pretty cool huh? I was so grateful to come into possession of two weekend tickets and much to my delight, Frank Ocean and Solange were playing!
Outfit: Day One
I’ve been loving these high wasited, wide legged striped pants from H&M that I wore all throughout my recent holiday. They are so comfortable (perfect for travelling) but yet look so chic and stylish. I paired them with this light, cotton top that I found in a beautiful small town on the South of Spain called Frigiliana – more on that in another post. I’ve seen a lot of these wrap style tops around recently ever since we’ve all gone crazy for LA cool girl brands like Reformation. Myself included! This one is a bit different as it has big frills and ruffles on the bottom of the sleeves which makes it perfect for a festival without going too OTT.
Seeing Frank Ocean was obviously the highlight of the night and the person who I was most excited to see, after Solange. I keep watching back through my videos that I took that night, which was probably around 20+ , and it gives me goosebumps how much his music gives you the feels. I would love to see him again and hopefully will get the chance to. Unfortunately London festivals are quite rowdy, and not everyone was on the same vibe for Frank Ocean which was such a shame as it took away from the essence of his performance. I almost wish that I had those big earphones that Frank had on to block out all the chatter!
For the final day of the festival, we spent a lot more time in the Fabric Tent which surprisingly was one of my favourite tents! It was a little cold, so I went for this striped knit dress and paired it with my Stan Smiths for a more casual look. I didn’t really go for any wild, festival looks, but I felt there was enough color in this dress to make up for it! (I know, really pushing the boat aren’t I). I’ve linked this dress below – which is actually in the sale too – but as I was inspired by a picture of Sienna Miller in a similar Celine dress which I’ve had in a Pinterest board for years, I purchased in a much larger size for an oversized fit!
DJ EZ was also a crowd favorite at the beginning of the day, and the night ended with Chase & Status performing a set complete with fire, smoke canons and a glitter bomb. To top it off, me and Bethan both found an incredible vegan food stall selling Buddha Bowls. As I looked up on that final evening, I saw the Swings and Ferris Wheel in front of me, all lit up in front of the sunset and felt incredible blessed to experiencing a weekend with good food, good people and good music.
It was the first time that I had heard of Lovebox festival so if you would like to find out more about what the festival is like as more of an experience, then this article that I found on the Guardian sums up the whole vibe really well.
As the weekend came to a close, I was looking forward to taking the Sunday off to recoup! Make sure you check out my Instagram @heatheribberson for more images of the weekend and follow @bethanjroberts for her festival looks too!
