I am obsessed with summer dresses. I don’t think that I’ve mentioned it here on the blog yet, but if you’ve been following me on Instagram (which, you totally should be if you aren’t already -> @heatheribberson) then you might have noticed that I went on holiday to Salobrena recently… I mean, it’s not like I’ve been flooding your Insta feed for the past 2 weeks with all my #hotdogsorlegs photos. I joke (who posts them anymore?), but I couldn’t resist! I’ll certainly be following up with a holiday guide to Salobrena soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Based in the South of Spain, the town and surrounding Spanish villages are simply stunning. Small, quaint, tidy and full of white houses and old churches. I was spoiled by the views. As we arrived at the villa, I spotted this cute little spot right outside my door that instantly made me feel like I had been transported to LA.
Moving on to the outfit itself. I picked up this dress from Mango around a month ago after absolutely falling in love with it on the hanger. I’ve been in a bit of a ‘fashion slump’ recently,
so we’ll call it, and hadn’t bought anything new in a while. After pinning a few images on my Pinterest ‘Style Inspo’ board, I thought I’d take a leap of faith with this dress. Moving away from my usual neutral color palette of black, white and greys, I’ve actually found that despite the loud color and print, I’ve been getting heaps of wear out of it!
The dress can actually be worn one of two ways, making it SUPER versatile and great for both casual outings and dressier occasions. I love wearing it as shown here, open at the front thus showing the detail of any tee worn underneath. I find it looks best when paired with a white slogan or graphic tee that doesn’t clash with the floral print, but actually ends up pulling the whole look together. Otherwise, there is a hook and eye to pull together the top so you can wear without a top underneath. You can find a picture of me wearing the dress with the fastening done up on my Instagram from my 22nd birthday, if you’d like to see how it looks.
