Jeans & A Nice Top Ft. Radley

I’ve been on the hunt for a new, large shoulder bag for some time now. As I commute in and out of London a couple of times a week for events and shoots – often armed with a bag full of clothes, a book for the commute and sometimes my laptop – I’ve found myself in need of a larger bag that fits what I need for the day, but one that also looks fashionable and smart enough to take to events and meetings. So I was thrilled when Radley offered to send me a bag from their website and I found this gorgeous mink colored shoulder bag.

Radley is a brand that I’ve had a connection with for such a long time. For my 13th birthday, I had my heart set on a tiny shoulder bag (when I say tiny I mean, it would fit an iPhone 5 and possibly a few scattered coins tiny). It was a pale, sunny yellow – which was my favourite colour – and had the iconic Radley print embroidered onto the side. Since, I feel like Radley has grown into a much more sophisticated and modern brand, whilst still keeping some of those playful elements that we all know Radley for.

In particular, this bag reminded me a lot of the much coveted Givenchy Antigona but in Radley’s own design. It also comes in jet black and ink blue so there are a few colorways to choose from. There is also a smaller version and I spent much time deliberating between the two (you might have voted on my Instapoll for which to go for) but ultimately, I wanted one that would fit my laptop.

I posted one of these images on Instagram recently and someone said that it was such a good example of the ‘jeans and a nice top’ look, which make me chuckle because it’s true, I’m such a ‘jeans and a nice top‘ kinda gal. Which in some ways makes me feel like I need to experiment some more with my style, but it’s my go-to outfit for pretty much any occasion. Even when I’m going out for drinks at a bar, jeans and a nice top is what makes me feel most comfortable, stylish and attractive.

In part, I believe this can be credited to the rise of the straight leg jean. Remember when we thought we could never stray from the good ol’ skinny jean? Now, the majority of my jean wardrobe consists of straight leg styles and it’s one of those pieces that I literally don’t know what I was wearing before it, which is always a good indicator of a staple piece.

I also am in LOVE with this emerald green Zara top, it’s not a color that I have elsewhere in my wardrobe and I was surprised at how much I liked it! Pop on an oversized cardigan for the daytime, then take off and pair with some low heels for the evening. It’s a great transitional color for the Autumn months and also, the perfect ‘jeans and a nice top’ top for all occasions 😉
