Date Night Dresses

I have no words for this Zara slip dress, it’s just absolutely stunning. I immediately gravitated towards this piece in the shop when I caught a glimpse of its liquid sheen from behind a rack of clothes. I usually have trouble finding slip dresses that suit me because of my figure, they need to be the right cut to skim my hips and rest flatteringly on my middle and behind. I haven’t been able to find that in a lot of these satin/silk materials that I love, until THIS one. The drawstring, diagonal detailing also creates flattering folds and shapes that flatter the contours of a womanly shape.

If you’re a regular reader of Atelier of Style (in which case, I love you and you’re amazing), then you’ll already know about my newfound love affair with the cowl neck from a previous post in which I sported this covetable Topshop black cami. I really love the décolletage area on a woman and I much prefer low necklines on myself, so the cowl neck offers something unique and different to my usual v-necks.

I’m constantly flagging and saving images of slip dresses for my style board as I love how versatile they are and can be styled in countless ways, making them perfect for both day and night time. In fact, I recently added an ‘Evening’ board to my Pinterest and not surprisingly, it features a lot of slip dresses – often worn with a cozy cardigan and simple two strap heel. This is definitely a look that I’d want to wear if I was going out for a meal with my boyfriend. In fact, I’ve been bugging him about it us having a date night for a while now because I want a proper excuse to get dressed up and wear this out! But I equally think this dress would look super cool with vans and a long cardigan too.
